Rini Brakkee (if Rini is unable to teach there will be a replacement teacher)
This painting and drawing course offers space to create your own artworks. We also help you to improve your technique, look at (your own) art in a different way, find inspiration, and enjoy the process. There is a large amount of materials available: (oil)pastels, (color) pencils, ink, watercolor paint, oil paint, acrylic paint, gouache, etc. Whether you want to create a realistic portrait or an abstract collage, design a postcard or work on your scrapbook, you will be able to do it at Groeten van Marc.
Both beginners and advanced students are welcome. If you are a beginner, it may be a good idea to start with some basic exercises, to practice working with light and dark, mixing colors, etc. Even more advanced artists are sometimes in need of a little inspiration, and can ask the teacher for an assignment/project idea. Trying new techniques, materials and subjects is something that every student enjoys. Assignments can be: paint a portrait in two colors, draw a cloudy sky in pastel chalk, make a painting in the style of Monet, paint a still life with your non-dominant hand, make a composition with pieces of colored paper.
Many students work on their own project, assisted where necessary by the teacher. Take a look and see what fellow students are doing, we inspire and encourage each other.
Teacher Rini Brakkee graduated from the Rietveld Academy and has been obsessed with all forms of creative expression since childhood. She has worked in various media, including oil paint, charcoal drawings, (stop motion) animation, ceramics and three-dimensional installations. Looking at, and talking about art is her great passion.
Sharma Peterson and Anna Underowicz are our other very skilled and enthusiastic teachers. Read more about them on the home page.
